Department of Religious Education and Catechism of Moscow Patriarchate Launches Website

A website has been launched by the Department of Religious Education and Catechism of the Russian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate). The site’s address is: http://media.otdelro.ru.

The site will present information for instructors and catechists, including educational programs, workbooks, audio and video materials for use in classes, releases from the program, Orthodox Education, and much more.

The site’s library will be continually updated.

On June 25, 2010 in the Vysoko-Petrovsky Monastery, Moscow, a working meeting was conducted by Synodal administrative leaders of the Russian Orthodox Church—Bishop Mercury of Zaraisk, the head of the Department of Religious Education and Catechism of the Russian Orthodox Church, and Bishop Kirill of Pavlo-Posadsk, head of the Synodal Committee for cooperative activity with the Cossackry of the Moscow Patriarchate.

When you enter a school auditorium for the first time, you must first of all be clear about the following: children are joyful, knowledge-loving creatures who look at the world (provided they have not been captivated by computer games—more on this later) with wide-open eyes. Therefore, every educator—and especially, every instructor of God’s Law—must have a fresh and sharp perception of the world, the ability to approach a subject from an entirely unexpected side.
