Unidentified criminals rob Russian church in Lisbon

Lisbon, September 22, 2010, Interfax

All Saints Parish of the Moscow Patriarchate in Lisbon (Portugal) was robbed in the early hours of September 21.

"Our church was robbed last night. All holy chalices and everything that glitters were taken out of the sanctuary, including a ciborium with the holy gifts. A computer, a music center and a guitar were also stolen from the church classroom," the parochial rector Igumen Arseny (Sokolov) told an Interfax-Religion correspondent.

Most of all, Fr. Arseny worries about the missing ciborium with the holy gifts and asks to pray for its safety.

An investigative group has not provided any information about the criminals so far.
