Deputy Director General of UNESCO visited the Kyiv Caves Monastery

Before the beginning of the International seminar "The role of religious communities in managing the objects of World Heritage, taking place on November 2-5 in Kyiv under the aegis of UNESCO, under the auspices of the president of Ukraine and with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Ukraine, the meeting of Deputy Director General of UNESCO Francesco Bandarin with deputy chairman of the DECR of the UOC , His Grace Alexander, Bishop of Pereyaslav-Khmelnytskyy was held.

At the beginning of the meeting Mr. Francesco expressed condolence to His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr on the death of his brother and shared his impressions of Kyiv and the Kyiv Caves Monastery.   His Grace Alexander conveyed the Primate's greetings to the participants of the International seminar and told the guest about the modern state of cooperation of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church with the Ministry of Culture and museums-reserves in the field of preservation and restoration of the shrines of the Ukrainian nation.

With regard to the merits in the field of preserving the objects of World Heritage, on the blessing of His Beatitude Volodymyr, Metropolitan of Kyiv and All Ukraine Francesco Bandarin was conferred on the order of the UOC of the Holy and Equal-to-the-Apostles prince Volodymyr. Taking part in the meeting also were representative of the center of World Heritage of UNESCO Anna Sydorenko and director general of the National Cultural Historical Kyiv-Pechersk Reserve Marina Hromova.
