On Wednesday, July 22, 11 wards of the Goldana Orphanage were united to Christ in His Holy Church by the Sacrament of Holy Baptism at the Church of St. Mitrophan in the city of Lisichansk, reports the parish website.

The service was celebrated by Archimandrite Methody (Agafonov), dean of the Lisichansk Deanery of the Severodonetsk Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, and Archpriest Nikolai Tkach, rector of the Church of St. Mitrophan.

Fr. Nikolai prepared the children for their new life in Christ with talks on the Christian faith and the Gospel.

Last September, a mass Baptism for 30 Gypsy children was held in the Mukachevo Diocese of the UOC.

Very close to them there is a nun running an orthodox orphanage with 60-70 terminally ill old men and women, and 9 severely handicapped children. She is basically working by herself and only has a young novice and one man working full-time. Certainly a new Mother Theresa!
