Chicago, April 27, 2021
Metropolitan Nathanael of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America has been discharged after a week in the hospital.
The Metropolitan was hospitalized on Sunday, April 18, after experiencing acute and persistent pain. He is now resting at home and plans to incrementally resume his duties.
He wrote on Facebook yesterday:
As many of you know, I had an unexpected visit to the hospital last week. Yesterday, by God’s Grace and with the help of a team of tireless physicians and medical workers, I was discharged. I am currently following doctor’s rest orders and I plan to steadily resume my day-to-day responsibilities. I can't begin to tell you how much the many prayers and thoughts of love and solidarity have meant to me. Being spiritually connected to the clergy and laity of our Holy Metropolis of Chicago, as well as those from around the world, has been both moving and therapeutic. The prayers and thoughts also have provided me with peace and strength as they express God’s presence in my life, especially during these most trying days. As we approach the Resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, I express to all my sincere and heartfelt gratitude. Kali Anastasi! Καλή Ανάσταση!
