Penza, Russia, June 15, 2021

His Holiness Patriarch Kirill confirmed the establishment of the feast of the Synaxis of All Saints of the Penza Metropolis in September, designating June 12—the birthday of St. Innocent of Penza, the first Penza saint—as the day of their annual celebration.
The festive Divine Liturgy was celebrated by His Eminence Metropolitan Seraphim of Penza and Nizhnelomovsk and His Grace Bishop Mitrophan of Serdobsk and Spassk together with clergy of the Penza Metropolis, reports the Diocese of Penza.
The service was attended by hundreds of Penza residents. The wonderworking Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God from the Vladimir Icon Hermitage in the village of Bolshoi Vyas was also brought to the cathedral for the celebration.
Following the Liturgy, a moleben to All Saints of Penza was served.
Met. Seraphim greeted all with the joy of the feast:
For the first time in the entire history of our Penza Diocese, which dates back 222 years, we have gathered here, in the Cathedral of the All-Merciful Savior, to glorify all the saints who have shone forth in our land. In 2020, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill approved the Synaxis of the Penza Metropolis, which included the names of 21 saints. We believe that this list is only the beginning of the Cathedral of the Penza Saints. In the future, the saints who suffered in great numbers at the beginning of the 20th century will be glorified, and the ascetics of piety and faith who lived in the first years of the formation of our diocese will be revealed. I hope that this date—June 12, according to the new style—will enter our Church calendar as a celebration that unites all our three dioceses, a celebration that confirms our Orthodox faith through all the saints whose memory we commemorate today.
The icon for the new feast was blessed during the All-Night Vigil Friday night. It presents the 21 saints of the Synaxis in three rows, with Christ the Savior Cathedral in the center, over which two angels soar, holding the Kazan Penza Icon of the Mother of God.
