Preduschelnoe, Crimea, May 26, 2022
The popular Skete of St. Anastasia of Sirmium in the Crimean village of Preduschelnoe nearly burned down on Tuesday.
Firefighters discovered that one of the temporary wooden structures on the territory of the monastery had caught fire, and there was a serious threat of the fire spreading throughout the holy habitation. However, “thanks to the prompt and well-coordinated work of the firefighters, it was possible to prevent its further spread,” the press service of the Crimean Ministry of Emergency Situations commented, reports Global Orthodox.
Thankfully, no one was injured in the fire that covered 645 sq. ft. The skete’s main attraction, the so-called “Beaded Church,” which draws thousands of pilgrims annually, was also unharmed.
The cause of the fire will be investigated.
Several buildings of the same skete were destroyed in a fire in January 2018.
