Antonis was a fellow student of mine at high school back in 1984. He believed in the superiority of the Greek race and belonged to a strange political organization called Golden Dawn. He and his like-minded friends were not violent, at least not at school, and some were even excellent students. But they used to do crazy things. For example, they occasionally greeted each other by raising their hand while shouting "Heil Hitler." One of them once told me that his life changed when he read Hitler's "Mein Kampf".

On October 5, a ceremonious moleben was performed at Archangel Michael Patriarchal Cathedral, after which His Holiness Patriarch Irinej of Serbia welcomed the leaders and representatives of the Local Orthodox Churches and other guests. The celebrations were widely covered in the local press, while the consecration of the cathedral was carried on live video feed.

In his most recent blog post, he has now taken aim against not only the "religious right" (a favorite target of his in recent years), but now even the Orthodox Church that he still is ostensibly a member of is in his cross-hairs—because they support Russia's laws restricting the promotion of homosexuality.
With the advent of Obama, everyone knew his administration was supporting radical extremists like the Muslim Brotherhood and fanatic rebels in Syria and Libya. Copts knew that they were only a pawn in the eyes of previous administrations, who didn’t really care about them except to the extent of what may have fit their interests.
