On the weekend of the patronal feast of the San Francisco's "Joy of All Who Sorrow" Russian Orthodox cathedral, Nov. 5-6, 2016, bishop-elect Archimandrite Irenei (Steenberg) was consecrated to the episcopacy by His Eminence Kyrill Archbishop of San Francisco and Western America. Fr. Irenei offered his reflection on the pastoral cross of the episcopacy at the Rite of Nomination on Saturday night, and on Sunday following the consecration Archsbishop Kyrill offered his words of inspiration, including a charge to the new bishop to turn only to Christ for his support.
