Every time we celebrate the Dormition of the Mother of God, it’s as if we’re having Easter – the Easter of the summer.

The larger question, which seems to be the proverbial elephant in the living room, is “From where do our definitions of good and evil come?” Is the distinction between right and wrong, good and evil, from above? From outside ourselves? From God? If so, how could we presume to tinker with it?
You can’t imagine how difficult it is to write this article, summarizing the last 3 weeks cohesively and giving you a fraction of the essence of our trip. Only superlatives come to mind when thinking of this group of young adults and of the experience as a whole.

Turning from the monastery to our everyday life, real obedience is concerned with hearing the voice of God in the voice of our family members, fellow parishioners, brother clergy and even in those of good will with whom we share only a common humanity.

Peace is to rule in our hearts, even if we have to confront evildoers and those who disturb the peace. We should defend what is good and right without losing the peace that comes from Christ.
