Following the publication and presentation of the book of Proverbs last year in the city of Nalchik in the Kabardino-Balkar Republic of Russia, the Institute for Bible Translation has now published the books of Daniel and Ruth in the Kabardino-Circassian language, reports the site of the Institute.

The Kabardino-Circassian language (672, 515 speakers) is the language of the Kabardians and the Circassians, one of the official languages of the Kabardino-Balkar and Karachay-Cherkess Republics, and belongs to the Abkhaz-Adyghe family of North Caucasian languages.

The Institute previously published the New Testament, the Gospel of Luke, the book of Ruth, and the book of Jonah. It was now decided to republish Ruth and to publish the book of Daniel for the first time, together in one publication. The book of Daniel was also published last year in the Adyghe language.

The new publication has been sent out for distribution to libraries and churches in Kabardino-Balkaria, Ingushetia, the Karachay-Cherkess Republic, Adygea, and the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania. It is already available online in the Institute’s electronic publication section.

The translation team is continuing to work on other Old Testament books, including the books of Judges and Kings.
