The Holy Spirit doesn’t come immediately, but gradually, gradually, to the extent that we run to the good God: “Lord, don’t leave me…”
When the good God is pleased to do so, the Holy Spirit stops nature: You’re not hungry or thirsty; nothing can cause you harm. In time, the Holy Spirit takes away a man’s prayer, whether he’s awake or asleep.
