A Romanian family with 7 children that lost its home to a fire in early February will be able to buy a new home thanks to the generosity and Christian love of the clergy and faithful of the Satu Mara Deanery of the Maramureş and Sătmar Diocese in northwest Romania.

Through collections organized in the churches, $11,265 (9,940 euros) was collected for the family, reports the Basilica News Agency.

The fire broke out on Saturday evening, February 2, due to an electrical short circuit, destroying the family home in the village of Tătărești. The local authorities and community arranged for the family to be immediately moved to a former pharmacy building.

Thanks to the collection organized by local priests, the family with 7 children under the age of 18 will soon be able to purchase a new house.

Meanwhile, the Holy Synod of the Bulgarian Church donated towards medical supplies for the clinic of pediatric oncology-hematology in a Sofia hospital on February 27, reports the site of the Bulgarian Patriarchate.

The donation of $3,130 (5,400 leva) was given to the hospital on behalf of the Synod by His Eminence Metropolitan Gabriel of Lovech. The funds were collected at two exhibitions in 2018 displaying the best children’s drawings from the “Resurrection of Christ” national contest.

The contest was part of the broader “Children Drawing for Children” campaign launched by the Holy Synod.

The Sofia Diocese of the Church also donated to the resuscitation unit of a Sofia children’s hospital in June.
