The Durrës Sea became a “vast, sanctified baptistery” recently, as 11 boys were united to Christ in its waters by two priests of the Albanian Orthodox Church.

The boys were participating in a camp run by the Albanian Orthodox Church when they received holy Baptism, reports Romfea.

“This is also one of the results of the beneficial and enlightened presence of Archbishop Anastasios of Albania,” Fr. Elias Makos writes in his report, referring to the primate of the Albanian Church, who has presided over a rebirth of the Church since taking up the primatial throne in 1992.

The Sacrament was celebrated by Frs. Gerasimos and Emmanuel and Deacon Spyridon at sunset.

“With a pure and sincere heart they will constantly struggle to build a conscious relationship with Christ, within the Church, by humbly applying His will. This relationship is not limited to formal contact with Christ, but culminates in the Sacrament of His Blood and Body in the Divine Eucharist,” Fr. Elias writes.

“The skies were also opened for these children. And they can now become spiritual masters of themselves.”
