Holy Trinity-St. Nektarios Monastery on the Greek island of Aegina, founded by St. Nektarios the Wonderworker, one of the greatest saints of the 20th century, celebrated the spiritual joy of receiving a new spiritual head on Sunday.

“In an atmosphere of deep emotion,” the enthronement of the new Abbess Timothea was celebrated at the monastery by His Eminence Metropolitan Ephraim of Hydra, Spetses, and Aegina, reports the monastery’s Facebook page.

“Our holy monastery was flooded with a multitude of Aeginians to congratulate and receive the blessings of our abbess!” the statement reads.

The monastery was founded in 1904 by St. Nektarios at the request of several nuns. It is named for the Holy Trinity, though it is also popularly known as St. Nektarios Monastery given that he founded it and that his relics repose there.

The Wonderworker spent the last 11 years of his life at the convent as a monk.
