Athens, October 4, 2019
OrthoChristian reported yesterday that the hierarchs of the Greek Church would reportedly not be discussing the Ukrainian issue at the upcoming session of the Bishops’ Council that begins October 8.
The Greek outlet Romfea confirms today, citing a press release from the Holy Synod of the Church of Greece, that the matter will not be taken up by the hierarchs.
According to the Synod’s communiqué, the Ukrainian issue is not on the Bishops’ agenda, and nothing is said about whether His Beatitude Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and All Greece intends to bring the issue to the table at the next session in February.
The Bishops’ Council will meet from October 8 to 11, and will discuss demographic issues in Greece and the mission work of the Church, among other topics, and will fill vacant metropolises.
