Mpuri, Meru County, Kenya, September 20, 2021
Another church has been built and consecrated in honor of the great 20th-century confessor and holy hierarch St. Luke the Blessed Surgeon of Simferopol, this time in in the heart of the African nation of Kenya.
The Russian hierarch is one of the most beloved saints in the Orthodox world today, highly venerated as a wonderworker in Greece, Russia, and beyond.
The consecration of the church in Mpuri, Meru County, was celebrated by His Grace Bishop Neofitos of Nyeri and Mt. Kenya yesterday, Sunday, September 19.
His Grace has published photos and video of the glorious event on his Facebook page. He writes:
Our beautiful church of Saint Luke the Physician in Meru County will become, by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit and the descent of the glory of the Almighty God, a beacon and icon of heaven itself. Our church will become a sacred house, the house of the Lord, and a consecrated holy place forever. An angel of the Lord will guard the holy altar, and the grace and glory of the Lord will fill its interior. Unlike other sacraments, however, the Consecration is not received by an individual, but instead is a blessing for the entire Church community! At this sacred place untold numbers of people will be united to the Lord Jesus Christ in baptism, will grow up into maturity in Christ and holiness through active participation in authentic spiritual life, will embrace repentance and have their sins washed away through Holy Confession.

Bp. Neofitos also emphasize that as both a bishop and a physician, and a loyal servant of holy Orthodoxy, St. Luke always labored to heal the suffering in both body and soul.
In February, OrthoChristian reported that another Church of St. Luke is under construction at a hospital on the Greek island of Corfu.
