Despite the desire of the so-called “Orthodox Church of Ukraine,” the Holy Synod of the Macedonian Orthodox Church-Ohrid Archbishopric has decided not to enter into communion and concelebrate its hierarchs.

Earlier this month, “Metropolitan” Epiphany Dumenko, the head of the schismatic OCU, wrote to His Beatitude Archbishop Stefan of Ohrid, the primate of the MOC, saying: “With this letter, we also testify to you, beloved brother in Christ, our readiness and desire to share the joy of communion in the Holy Eucharist at a time and place that will be favorable for this.”

Characteristically, Dumenko ignored the MOC’s tomos of autocephaly from the Serbian Orthodox Church, instead praising the Patriarchate of Constantinople.

The Holy Synod of the MOC discussed the matter on Tuesday, March 28, and decided “not to concelebrate with the hierarchy of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine until the full resolution of its status in the fullness of Orthodoxy.”

The bishops are to inform their clergy and people of this decision.
