The Orthodox prison ministry and other organizations of the Polish Orthodox Church have donated a number of spiritual texts to prisons throughout the country.
The main objective of the Liberated by Literature campaign is to contribute to the process of social rehabilitation of those in prisons and detention centers, reports the Polish Church.
Altogether, more than 1,000 Bibles, prayer books, liturgical readings, and Psalters in Polish, Ukrainian, Georgian, and Romanian were sent to the libraries of 80 prisons and detention centers.
“Support in the above form is indispensable in the process of effectively counteracting the social exclusion of persons deprived of their liberty, and especially in their moral improvement and the assimilation of appropriate ethical values,” writes the Polish Church.
