After two massive earthquakes rocked Turkey and Syria in early February, the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of America took up funds in all its parishes and launched an online relief fund to gather donations.

Today, the Archdiocese reports that so far it has raised and sent $1.25 million to help the survivors and their rebuilding efforts. Meanwhile, it continues to raise funds.

The Antiochian Women organization are currently raising funds for disaster relief, and if they manage to raise $200,000 by Palm Sunday, an anonymous donor will contribute an additional $100,000.

Parishes have also collected clothing and medical supplies to be distributed in the earthquake zone.

The Archdiocese also notes that the Patriarchate’s humanitarian teams in Syria have been providing food, clothing, shelter, hygiene kits, diapers, medicine, and medical supplies to earthquake survivors.
