First anniversary of repose of ROCOR’s Metropolitan Hilarion commemorated at Jordanville

His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion (Kapral) of blessed memory, the First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, reposed in the Lord on May 16, 2022.

On Tuesday, he was prayerfully commemorated at Holy Trinity Monastery in Jordanville by his successor, His Eminence Metropolitan Nicholas, the monastery reports.

The Metropolitan celebrated the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy at 6 AM, concelebrated by monastery and seminary clergy and visiting clergy.

Following a memorial luncheon, a panikhida was celebrated at Met. Hilarion’s grave in the brotherhood cemetery behind the monastery cathedral at 1 PM.

He was very fond of church services, and even I, a little girl, understood that the Church ministry was his calling and his future was to be a monk and play an important role in the Church. We were assigned double rooms, and I ended up sharing a room with the future Vladyka Hilarion—known simply as Igor then.
