Since 2015, the Romanian Orthodox Church has commemorated the last Sunday in May as the Day of Romanians Everywhere, “a unique day with profound spiritual importance, reaffirming the Christian roots and traditions of the Romanian people.”

The Romanian Orthodox Church considers Romanians abroad “its faithful sons and daughters and an integral part of the Romanian Orthodox communion everywhere,” His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel writes in his address for the occasion.

He notes that the Patriarchate currently has four archdioceses and nine dioceses outside of Romania, consisting of 1,483 parishes and 71 monasteries served by 1,379 clerics.

The activity of Romanian Orthodox communities abroad “affirms Romanian Orthodox values and, at the same time, supports Orthodox Romanians outside Romania in preserving these values in the adopting societies, where they have settled temporarily or permanently.”

“Peace and joy, health and happiness, we wish to all Romanians everywhere!” His Beatitude concludes.
