Kipoupoli, Peristeri, Greece, June 6, 2023

Work on a new monastery is underway in the Metropolis of Peristeri of the Church of Greece.

Metropolitan Gregorios of Peristeri recently consecrated and placed the foundation stone for the new monastery with the words, “On the blood of Christ we build the Church,” reports Romfea.

The new holy habitation, named in honor of St. Gregory the Theologian, is being built in Kipoupoli in Peristeri, a suburb in western Athens. It will be the second monastery in the diocese. The Holy Monastery of Panagia Finikiotissa was established in 2009, according to the diocesan site.

“From the first moment of his enthronement, Metropolitan Gregorios had the vision to enlighten the urban area of Peristeri both ecclesiastically and spiritually,” the report reads.

“We are laying the foundation stone for a lung of our Church,” the hierarch said.

After the laying of the foundation stone, Met. Gregorios celebrated Vespers at the Chapel of the Holy Trinity in Peristeri.
