The Russian Orthodox Church recently published a complete Kazakh translation of the New Testament.
The publication, issued with the blessing of His Eminence Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, is timed to the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Church’s Metropolitan District on the territory of Kazakhstan.
The translation project, initiated by Met. Alexander, began in 2021, and was carried out by leading specialists from the Helvetia translation agency, well-known in Kazakhstan, reports the Metropolitan District.
The first books of the Bible translated into Kazakh and presented into the Kazakh public in 2022 were the Gospel of Matthew, the Psalter, and Proverbs. The project continues today.

“It’s impossible to make a high-quality translation without relying on the culture of the people, on their traditional values, ideas about God, about the world, about man,” Met. Alexander said about the translation.
“The Kazakh language—one of the richest and most expressive languages in the world—is a precious part of the ancient and multifaceted culture of the Kazakh people… The specialists used the entire palette of linguistic means to convey the beauty and diversity of biblical texts, their spirit, meaning and style. The publication of books of the Bible in the Kazakh language has an invaluable educational and historical-cultural significance.”
Earlier this year, the Institute for Bible Translation published two books about the Kings and Prophets David and Solomon in the Dungan language, mainly spoken in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan.
