The 56th Biennial Convention of the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America began in Phoenix, Arizona, on July 23 and will run through July 30.

Clergy and laity from throughout North America have gathered for meetings, fellowship, and Divine services, with the blessing of the presence of His Beatitude Patriarch John X of Antioch and All the East and Mother Macrina of Dormition Monastery in Blemmana, Syria, who arrived in America on July 13.

Another highlight of the Convention is the presence of the wonderworking and myrrh-streaming Hawaiian Iveron Icon of the Most Holy Theotokos.

The blessed icon, which has traveled the world, was present for the Divine Liturgy yesterday, July 26, streaming myrrh all morning, the Archdiocese reports.

The icon was brought by Fr. Nectarios Yangston, the owner and guardian of the icon, which began streaming myrrh in 2007. Since then, Fr. Nectarios has tirelessly traveled throughout America and the Orthodox world, giving millions the chance to venerate the Mother of God and receive her blessing.

Many miraculous healings have been attributed to the icon, including the healing of Fr. Nectarios himself in 2019.

As OrthoChristian reported yesterday, Pat. John and an Antiochian delegation also visited St. Anthony’s Monastery, founded by Elder Ephraim of thrice-blessed memory, in Florence, Arizona.
