120th anniversary of glorification of St. Seraphim of Sarov celebrated at Diveyevo Monastery (+VIDEO)

This year marks the 120th anniversary of the glorification of St. Seraphim of Sarov which was celebrated in Sarov on July 19/August 1, 1903. Diveyevo Monastery hosted the Royal Martyrs the next day.

The feast of the Uncovering of the Relics of St. Seraphim and the anniversary of his glorification were celebrated yesterday at Holy Trinity-St. Seraphim Diveyevo Convent by Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia and a host of Russian hierarchs and clerics, reports the Russian Orthodox Church.

The Divine Liturgy was celebrated on the square in front of the monastery’s Holy Transfiguration Cathedral, with the relics of St. Seraphim brought out from the Holy Trinity Cathedral.

About 10,000 pilgrims filled the monastery for the primatial service.

At the end of the service, Pat. Kirill led the magnification of St. Seraphim and read a prayer before his relics.

Following the service, Metropolitan George of Nizhny Novgorod greeted Pat. Kirill and gave him an icon of St. Seraphim praying on the rock. Abbess Sergia then offered the Patriarch an icon of the Annunciation, a prophsora, and a monastic prayer rope. In turn, Pat. Kirill gave the monastery an icon of St. Michael of Tver and St. Anna of Kashin.

All those present were also given icons of St. Seraphim.
