Bulgaria’s first mobile blood donation point was solemnly blessed by a hierarch of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church on Wednesday.
The blessing of the holy water and subsequent blessing of the van were celebrated by His Eminence Metropolitan Ioan of Varna and Veliky Preslav in the courtyard of the Varna Regional Center for Transfusion and Hematology, reports the Bulgarian Orthodox Church.

The blood donation vehicle was purchased with funds from the “I Believe and Help” charity drive. The aim is to visit municipalities, towns, and villages to help supply hospitals with blood. Doctors can also perform blood transfusions in the mobile health center.
In his speech, Met. Ioan wished success to the hospital and the new mobile blood donation center, emphasizing that donating blood is very important and that “every person should understand that it would be good to donate blood.”
He then read a prayer for the blessing of the specialized vehicle and its drivers.
