Two churches of Căldărușani Monastery, a 17th-century holy habitation that sits just 20 miles to the northeast of Bucharest, have been restored.
The project, a joint effort of the monastery and the Ilfov County administration, restored the St. Demetrios the Great Martyr and St. John the Evangelist Churches for the sake of the “conservation, protection, promotion, and development of the cultural heritage,” reports the Basilica News Agency.

The monastery is one of the most important monuments of Church architecture in Wallachia.
Altogether, the work, which ended in September, cost $4.78 million (21.6 million lei).
The monastery-county project provided for the presentation of virtual tours of the two churches.
