Metropolitan Methodios of Boston of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America is recuperating after a successful surgery on the lower part of his spinal column earlier this month.
The Metropolitan had suffered for several months from an issue with his sciatic nerve, causing him pain and difficulty in walking.
On January 7, Metropolis chancellor Protopresbyter Theodore Barbas informed diocesan priests that the surgery was successful, and Met. Methodios returned home on the feast of Theophany, reports the National Herald.
The hierarch will have to undergo an intense course of daily physical therapy to regain full mobility.
Met. Methodios told the National Herald: “Thanks be to God, everything went very well with the surgery, and now I am recovering at home, where I will undergo physical therapy as prescribed and required in similar cases… The pain that troubled me in recent months has almost disappeared, and everything is going well.”
