Nearly $30,000 were recently donated to a number of Serbian Orthodox churches and monasteries in Kosovo and Metohija by a youth group based in Podgorica, Montenegro.

During a two-month Christmas campaign, Youth for Kosmet [Kosovo and Metohija] raised 27,000 euros ($29,270), which was personally distributed following the feast of Theophany, with another 550 euros ($600) from the group itself, Youth for Kosmet reports.

The beneficiaries include four monasteries (including the famous Visoki Dečani), two churches, a soup kitchen, and a family.

The funds are earmarked for specific projects, including for the restoration of churches, the expansion of a monastery store, the construction of a monastery boiler room and a protective wall, and more.

“The crown of the journey, as always, were the holy Liturgies, this time in Banjska and Visoki Dečani Monasteries. The seven centuries that these walls preserve remind us to never give up on what the Lord has crowned with the wreath of martyrdom,” the group ends its report.
