A Romanian Orthodox monastery in Canada is holding literal all-night vigil and Divine Liturgies every month this year.

The vigils and Liturgies are being held once a month at the Monastery of the Holy Cross and St. Ephraim the New in Mono, Ontario, in honor of Unmercenary Healers celebrated that month according to the liturgical calendar of the Orthodox Church, the monastery reports.

2024 is dedicated to the memory of the Unmercenary Healers within the Romanian Orthodox Church, as declared by the Romanian Holy Synod.

The first such service was held on January 31–February 1. The Vigil begin at 10 PM, with Vespers, Matins, and the blessing of water, followed by the Divine Liturgy at 5 AM. The next vigil will be held on February 7–8, with Vespers, Matins, an akathist, and Liturgy.

Names for commemorations can be sent to the monastery at holycrossorthodoxmonastery@gmail.com.

OrthoChristian earlier reported on the monastery’s summer pilgrimage that was blessed with a visit from the wonderworking and myrrh-streaming Hawaiian Iveron Icon of the Mother of God.
