On Journalist's Day, Member of Parliament Artem Dmytruk called the work of true media professionals in today’s realities truly heroic. The MP posted a photo of the journalists from the Union of Orthodox Journalists (UOJ), taken during a court session, on his Telegram channel.

“In this photo are real journalists who are currently in detention on false and fabricated charges. I wish you only one thing: resilience!” he wrote.

Artem Dmytruk wished the imprisoned prisoners of conscience strength and faith in a better future.

“Millions of Ukrainians are with you, and we will all continue to fight for your release!” noted the MP.

On March 14, 2024, six journalists from the Union of Orthodox Journalists and human rights activists, Archpriest Sergiy Chertilin, Andrey Ovcharenko, Valeriy Stupnitsky, Ivan Rosada, Tatyana Bezmalenko, and Vladimir Bobechko, were arrested and placed in the SBU detention center on suspicion of “working for the FSB”. The defense is currently awaiting the appointment of a new judge, who will review the case.
