Meteora: New church under construction for first time in 500 years (+VIDEO)

“A special event is taking place in Meteora,” as a new church is under construction for the first time in 500 years, reports trikalaola.gr.

In particular, the Church of the Entrance of the Most Holy Theotokos is being built at the Holy Trinity Monastery, one of several holy habitations sitting atop the famous Greek rock formations.

On Monday, June 24, the feast of the Holy Spirit, Metropolitan Theoklitos of Stagoi and Meteora visited the monastery and celebrated the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy. Following the service, Abbot Dometios offered the Metropolitan a tour of the monastery, including the new church that is underway.

The church is scheduled to be completed in about a year from now.
