Several dozen baptized into Christ in Madagascar

Nearly twelve dozen people were baptized into the holy Orthodox Church in the Patriarchate of Alexandria’s Diocese of Toliara and Southern Madagascar recently.

The service was celebrated by Bishop Prodromos of Toliara.

The Diocese reports:

By the grace of God, 140 souls of all ages have united with our Orthodox Church. Our hearts are filled with joy as we see these souls being reborn and walking the path of salvation.

In this sacred moment, volunteers from Cyprus were with us, with love and devotion, under the guidance of Fr. Vasileios, the head priest of the Holy Church of Agia Napa. Their presence was a blessing, enriching our work with the love and blessing of the Lord.

Let us all continue together, with faith and dedication, to walk the path of spiritual growth and Divine grace, in the Holy Diocese of Toliara and Southern Madagascar, with Christ as our guide and love for our fellow men.

The entire complex sits on a 10-acre plot of land. The two-story orphanage currently houses 50 girls, but is equipped to take up to 280. Just days after the church at St. Joseph the Hesychast Monastery in Toliara, Madagascar was consecrated comes news that the monastic presence in the African country continues to grow, with a new convent being built there.
