Thousands of faithful Ukrainian Orthodox Christians and dozens of hierarchs and clergy filled the Holy Dormition-Pochaev Lavra over the weekend and yesterday for the feast of the wonderworking Pochaev Icon of the Mother of God.
Celebrations began on Saturday, August 3. According to monastery tradition, the miraculous image was transferred from the Holy Dormition Cathedral to the Holy Transfiguration Cathedral, where the main services were to be held, reports the Information-Education Department of the UOC.
Some of the thousands of pilgrims came on foot in procession to honor the Most Holy Theotokos.
On the eve of the feast, the All-Night Vigil was celebrated with an akathist before the wonderworking icon. Following the service, molebens with akathists were celebrated before the icon until late at night.
The services were celebrated by a host of bishops and clergy led by His Eminence Metropolitan Sergei of Ternopil. Thousands of faithful from across Ukraine participated in the feast. Two Liturgies were celebrated yesterday, on the morning of the feast.

After the second Liturgy, the wonderworking icon was solemnly carried back to the Holy Dormition Cathedral in a procession, where a festive moleben to the Mother of God was served.
