The Three Hierarchs Chapel at St. Vladimir’s Seminary in New York is in need of urgent repairs.

The roof started leaking this spring and will be replaced with a new GAF architectural single (with a 50-year warranty). According to the seminary, “The work will consist of ripping off the old shingles, plywood repair, underlayment, new yankee gutters, and ridge vents.”

The seminary writes about its chapel:

At the heart of St Vladimir’s Seminary stands Three Hierarchs Chapel, named for Ss. Basil the Great, Gregory the Theologian, and John Chrysostom, and consecrated in 1983.

Twice a day, the chapel bells summon Seminarians and their families, faculty and staff to worship. Alumni recall with reverence the lasting impact of the liturgical schedule has had on their lives and ministries. Orthodox theological education is uniquely and significantly tied to liturgical worship, and Three Hierarchs Chapel remains inseparable from the Seminary’s academic focus on daily worship as the cornerstone of spiritual formation.

For 41 years, the Chapel has served as not only our house of worship, but as a classroom for future priests, deacons, altar servers, music directors, and readers. Many Individuals and families in the local community of Yonkers also call Three Hierarchs Chapel their home where dozens of weddings, baptisms, and funerals have taken place. The beautiful iconography, the lingering rich fragrance of incense, and the soul-stirring music make the chapel a special and profound place to worship.

The entire project will cost $35,000.

One-time or recurring donations can be me made via credit card, wallet, or direct debit on the St. Vladimir’s Seminary site.
