Bp. Pavlos was born in Arta, Greece on June 30, 1938. He studied theology at the renowned Theological School of Halki, from which he graduated in 1962.

He served as General Archiepiscopal Vicar of the Holy Metropolis of Demetrias until 1970 and subsequently immigrated to Australia and was integrated into the clergy of the Holy Archdiocese of Australia, as the priest in charge of the Church of the Holy Trinity in Richmond, Melbourne.

Elected as bishop of the once illustrious Diocese of Christianoupolis, as an auxiliary Bishop to Archbishop Stylianos of Australia, he was ordained on March 11, 1984, the Sunday of Orthodoxy, at the Cathedral of the Annunciation of the Theotokos in Sydney. In 1994, he separated from the canonical Church and for this reason was defrocked by the Holy Synod of the Constantinople.

On June 12, 2019, the Holy Synod, “accepting the repentance and request for forgiveness of the former Bishop Pavlos of Christianoupolis in Australia, lifted the defrocking imposed on him in due time and, with the concurrence of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, restored him to the episcopal rank and reinstated him with the same title.”

Since then, Bp. Pavlos lived as a retired hierarch in Adelaide, having canonical communion with the Holy Archdiocese of Australia. After a brief illness, and having previously received Holy Communion, he departed to the Lord on September 17, 2024.
