Moldovan Church celebrates new feast of wonderworking Theotokos icon

Photo: mitropolia.md Photo: mitropolia.md On Sunday, October 20, the Moldovan Orthodox Church celebrated the liturgical proclamation of the veneration of the Zloți Icon of the Mother of God.

His Eminence Metropolitan Vladimir of Chișinău and All Moldova celebrated the Liturgy with for the occasion at the St. George the Great Martyr Monastery in Zloți in southern Moldova together with Abbot Archimandrite Tobie (Boboc) and other Moldovan clerics, reports the Moldovan Orthodox Church.

The Holy Synod established a feast for the Zloți Icon, which has worked many miracles since 1995, in October 2023.

During the Small Entrance, the Synodal proclamation on the Wonderworking Zloți Icon was read out, and the history of the icon was recounted.

After the Great Entrance, Hierodeacon Iov (Boboc) was ordained to the priesthood for the monastery.

    

After the Divine Liturgy, the Icon and a shrine dedicated to the Mother of God were blessed, followed by a procession around the church.

In conclusion, all the faithful received a small icon of the Mother of God, after which followed the fraternal agape organized by the monastery community.

Concerning the wonderworking icon, the monks of Zloţi Monastery write:

Through this holy icon, new help was sent to us, the monks, to build such a beautiful monastery. People from the entire Republic of Moldova come to her for help. She is called the wonderworker—the Mother of God for all those in distress. Throughout this period from 1995 to the present, many Christians have received various healings, both spiritual and physical.

Every day, in front of this holy icon, the Paraklesis and the Akathist to the Mother of God are read, and hundreds of names of Christians who have various difficulties in this life are mentioned. Most Christians come to Zloţi Monastery to venerate this holy icon and to be recorded to be remembered in the holy prayers to the Mother of God.
