A parish of the Moldovan Orthodox Church celebrated its patronal feast last week by helping a local community for the blind.
The Church of St. Demetrius the New in Chișinău celebrated its patron on November 8. In addition to the Divien services, the parish organized a large-scale philanthropic campaign dedicated to supporting members of the Association of the Blind in the Republic of Moldova, reports the Moldovan Orthodox Church.
This good deed was initiated by the priest’s wife. Ruxanda Cheibas and with the blessing of the parish priest, Fr. Vadim Cheibas, “bringing comfort and hope to those in need.”
The campaign consisted of providing packages with basic food products to blind individuals, thus responding to their essential needs and encouraging them in their daily challenges.
The parish community of the Church of St. Demetrius the New organizes similar campaigns throughout the year.
“We’re glad to see that our parishioners always respond with openness and generosity to the church’s calls for helping others. Through such initiatives, our community grows in solidarity and assumes its role in contributing to the common good,” stated Fr. Vadim.
The Association of the Blind then sent a letter of thanks to His Eminence Metropolitan Vladimir of Chișinău.
