A pan-Orthodox network “committed to fostering spiritual growth and strengthening bonds across Orthodox jurisdictions” was recently created in the Chicago metropolitan area.

The network, called Orthodoxy Today, is “dedicated to active participation in the Christian Orthodox Church,” states the organization’s website.

The network aims to provide opportunities for Orthodox Christians of all ages to make connections and grow in their spiritual lives through hosting retreats with engaging speakers.

According to Holy Cross Monastery in West Virginia, the network was created after two of the monastery’s hieromonks led a pan-Orthodox retreat in August. The event was very well received and the organizers decided to continue hosting such spiritually edifying events for the faithful in the Chicago area, for which they created Orthodoxy Today.

The organization is under the patronage of St. Raphael of Brookly, who “embodies the spirit of Orthodox unity and love, a mission that Orthodoxy Today holds close to heart.”

“Our events, from discussions to social gatherings, reflect St. Raphael’s vision of a connected, vibrant Orthodox community. Inspired by his legacy of inclusivity and his innovative spirit, we use today’s platforms to foster connection and growth, honoring him as our guiding light in uniting Orthodox Christians across North America and beyond.”

The next event will be held at the Holy Virgin Protection Cathedral in Des Plaines, Illinois, on March 8 on the theme of “Managing Stress & Mental Health From an Orthodox Perspective.” The guest speakers are Dr. Ary Christofidis and Fr. Athanasios Papagiannis.
