Serbian, Russian, Macedonian hierarchs concelebrate for remembrance of Bp. Atanasije (Jevtić)

Hierarchs and clergy of several Local Churches came together in Bosnia over the weekend as the Serbian Orthodox Church commemorated the anniversary of the repose of the noted theologian Bishop Atanasije (Jevtić).

His Grace Bp. Atanasije reposed in the Lord on March 4, 2021

. Three nights of remembrances and theological discussions were held in his honor this year. Among the speakers were Russian, Serbian, and Czech-Slovak hierarchs and clergy.

Then, on Sunday, hierarchs and clergy of four Local Churches came together to celebrate the Divine Liturgy for Meatfare Sunday at the Holy Transfiguration Cathedral in Trebinje, reports the Russian Church’s Department for External Church Relations.

The service was presided over by His Eminence Metropolitan Ambrose of Tver of the Russian Church, with the concelebration of six hierarchs of the Serbian Church from throughout the world, His Grace Bishop Zinovy of Saransk of the Russian Church, His Grace Bishop Mark of Delbeševo of the Macedonian Orthodox Church-Ohrid Archbishopric, and clergy from the Serbian, Russia, Macedonian, and Czech-Slovak Churches.

About 1,000 faithful filled the church.

At the end of the service, a memorial litiya was served for the repose of Bp. Atanasije. Later, a panikhida was served at the bishop’s grave at Tvrdoš Monastery, followed by a memorial meal.
