His Holiness Patriarch Porfirije of the Serbian Orthodox Church was visited yesterday by His Eminence Metropolitan Athanasios of Limassol of the Orthodox Church of Cyprus and Elder Ephraim, the abbot of Vatopedi Monastery on Mt. Athos.
The Cypriot hierarch and the abbot were both spiritual children of Elder Joseph of Vatopedi.
During the meeting in Belgrade, the parties discussed “important topics for the life and mission of the Orthodox Church in the contemporary world,” reports the Serbian Orthodox Church.
They especially spoke about the fraternal and spiritual relations between the Serbian and Greek peoples and Churches.
Met. Athanasios and Elder Ephraim also asked His Holiness to bless them to receive a portion of the holy relics of two great Serbian saints of the 20th century: St. Justin (Popović) of Ćelije and St. Nikolaj (Velimirović) of Ohrid and Žiča.
