Russian church damaged in drone attack, Ukrainian monastery damaged by shelling

Photo: Telegram Photo: Telegram A church in the southwestern Russian Belgorod Province, which directly borders Ukraine, was damaged last week due to a drone attack by the Ukrainian army.

The domes of the Church of the Great Martyr George the Victorious in the village of Tolokonnoe caught fire due to the detonation on May 3, Governor Gladkov of the Belgorod Province announced, reports Patriarchia.ru.

“Thanks to the quick response and teamwork of our self-defense units, we were able to extinguish the fire before it caused more extensive damage,” the governor wrote.

And in Ukraine, the St. Nicholas Monastery in Myropillia, Sumy Province, suffered due to recent shelling in the area by Russian forces, reports the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

The St. Nicholas Church, the house church dedicated to the Joy of All Who Sorrow Icon of the Mother of God, the monastic quarters, and utility buildings were all damaged. The buildings suffered both inside and out, including roofs, windows, doors, and icons.
