The London cathedral of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia was the scene of a glorious concelebration on Sunday, May 11, with the Divine Liturgy being celebrated by the hierarchs of the ROCOR Holy Synod and the local Antiochian hierarch.

The service at the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Mother of God and the Holy Royal Martyrs was led by His Eminence Metropolitan Nicholas, the First Hierarch of ROCOR, concelebrated by His Eminence Metropolitan Mark of Berlin and Germany, His Eminence Archbishop Gabriel of Montreal and Canada, His Grace Bishop Irenei of London and Western Europe, His Grace Bishop Theodosy of Seattle, and His Grace Bishop Job of Stuttgart. The service marked the conclusion of the Paschal session of the Synod, which was held in London, the Diocese of Great Britain and Western Europe reports.

The Liturgy was also blessed with the presence of the wonderworking Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God, venerated as the protectress of the Russian Orthodox diaspora.

During the Hours, Met. Nicholas ordained the cathedral’s reader Valery Beroskin to the subdiaconate. Following the Liturgy, he offered a homily on the Gospel reading of the Paralytic, “exhorting the faithful to recognize that we are all, at times, in need of help and care — and to be ready to receive this from our brethren, and even directly from our merciful God Himself.”

Then a festive luncheon was offered by the Cathedral Sisterhood of St. Xenia, with a musical-poetry performance by children of the cathedral.
