More than a dozen local residents were baptized at two parishes of the Russian Orthodox Church’s African Exarchate on May 31, the feast of the Holy Fathers of the Seven Ecumenical Councils.

At the parish of Sts. Constantine and Helen in Chongwe, Lusaka Province, the local dean Fr. Sylvester Mumbi celebrated the Sacraments of initiation for 11 people, the Exarchate reports.

And at the parish of the Great Martyr George the Victorious in Mwense, Luapula Province, another three people were baptized by the rector Fr. Christopher Mwelwa.

The next day, on the Sunday of the Holy Fathers of the First Ecumenical Council, the newly illumined received Holy Communion for the first time.
