The Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia’s Cathedral of the Nativity of the Mother of God and the Royal Martyrs in London has been providing food to refugees and the needy since December 2022, “striving to play its part in fulfilling the Christian charge to care for all as brothers and sisters in Christ by providing much-needed food for those struggling in these difficult times.”

Every week, free boxes of food are distributed, each with enough provisions to feed a family for a week.

Since its inception, the food bank has distributed nearly 2,800 parcels to needy families, the Diocese of Great Britain and Western Europe reports.

The food bank operates on donations from cathedral parishioners, local businesses, and charities, and is run by a dedicated team of volunteers from the cathedral community.

To learn more about the London Cathedral Food Bank, including guidance on how to receive a food box if you are in need, or how to donate goods if you would like to support its work, contact the organizer, Reader Simon Tingley.
