The Eastern American Diocese of the Serbian Orthodox Church has announced its inaugural iconography camp, scheduled for October 13-18, at St. Sava Shadeland Monastery in Springboro, Pennsylvania, near Erie. The event has the blessing of His Grace Bishop Irinej.

The week-long camp will bring together iconographers from across the United States for prayer, education, fellowship, and sacred artistic work in a monastic setting. Fr. George Popovich, a theologian and master iconographer with over 30 years of experience, will lead the program, which is designed for both experienced and emerging iconographers, the diocese reports.

Participants will engage in daily classes and theological reflections on the foundations of iconography, with hands-on practice that includes painting the altar of the Shadeland church. The camp will follow a structured rhythm of liturgical life, including Divine Liturgy, Matins, Vespers, and communal meals. Group discussions and peer feedback sessions will provide opportunities for iconographers to learn from one another's experiences.

The camp offers early registration at $750 (two payments) for those who register by September 15. Regular registration after September 15 is $1,000 (three payments). The tuition covers lodging, meals, and all iconography materials. Participants are asked to bring their own tools.

Due to limited space and high interest, early registration is encouraged.

For specific application requirements, tuition details, and registration information, interested participants should visit the website of the Eastern American Diocese.

All proceeds and donations from the camp will support St. Sava Shadeland Monastery and Camp.
