More than 50 people were united to Christ in three mass Baptisms in Africa last week.
On October 12, seven people were baptized at the St. Catherine’s Church in the Tanzanian village of Nyamahana, reports the Russian Orthodox Church’s Exarchate of Africa.
The newly illumined—Seraphim, Christina, Catherine, Barnabas, Maria, Elizabeth, and Emilia—had undergone four months of catechism.
On October 14, the Church of St. John the Baptist in Babla, Cameroon, held the Baptism of 25 people who had undergone a catechism course. The celebrating priests also held a talk about the Orthodox faith for local residents, several of whom expressed a desire to be baptized.
On October 15, the Church of St. George in Mwene-Ditu, Democratic Republic of the Congo, held the Baptism of 19 former members of a non-canonical community. They had been undergoing catechism since January.
