Spruce Island Books, the official publishing partner of the Orthodox Church in America’s Diocese of Alaska, has pledged 50% of its Kickstarter proceeds from Monday through Friday, when the campaign ends, to help those affected by the floods that struck western Alaska last month.

The Kickstarter campaign launched in September to support the publication of Daily Prayers of the Orthodox Church, which includes, in addition to morning and evening prayers, the newly composed Akathist to St. Olga of Alaska.

The campaign has already far surpassed its $15,000 goal, and half of any donations offered throughout its last week will be directed towards the Western Alaska Relief Fund.

The press writes:

This Friday—November 21—is the official END of our Kickstarter. From now until then, 50% of ALL revenue will be donated to the Western Alaska Relief Fund!

As most of you know, Alaska was recently hit by Typhoon Halong. Over 1,500 people were airlifted to safety in one of the largest evacuations in state history. Gov. Dunleavy warns that that the displaced may not be able to return to their villages until 2027.

Nearly all of those affected—close to 100% in the hardest-hit areas—are Alaskan Natives, primarily Yupik people. Most of them belong to the Orthodox Church.

To support the peoples of Alaska AND Spruce Island Books, please consider supporting our Kickstarter.

May St. Herman and St. Olga intercede with God for us all!

The GoFundMe for Fr. Noah and Matushka Anastasia Andrew of Kwigillingok, who lost both their home and church in the flooding, is also still active.
