Greek Metropolis of Didymoteicho distributes food aid to 200 families in northern Evros

The Metropolis of Didymoteicho, Orestiada and Soufli distributed food packages to needy families in the northern Evros region yesterday, with Metropolitan Damaskinos present at the event.

The Metropolis worked together with Apostoli, the charitable organization of the Archdiocese of Athens, and the Masoutis supermarket chain to hand out 150 food packages to families in need throughout northern Evros.

On the same day, the Metropolis distributed another 50 food packages provided by the shipowners’ union SYN-ENOSIS. These packages went to large families, single-parent households, and elderly people facing hardship.

Met. Damaskinos expressed his gratitude to the sponsors supporting the social welfare work of the Metropolis and to everyone helping coordinate these charitable efforts.

The Metropolis, Apostoli, and Masoutis have teamed up to help thousands of need people and families over the years.

Despite the best efforts of the Fire Department and Coast Guard, the Church of the Presentation of the Lord was completely destroyed inside.
